George Weaver's 1936 Maserati R-1 leads Frank Griswold's 1938 Alfa Romeo 2900 B and Briggs Cunningham's 1939 Bu-Merc around what would later be known as Milliken's corner. On October 2nd, 1948, Griswold won this 4 lap event and the 8 lap Grand Prix. Painted by artist, Robert Gillespie.
